It is so great living somewhere where every sight-seeing trip is NEW. Never seen before.. The Knoxville Sentinel publishes a weekly column about interesting hikes and destinations that the reader might enjoy.. Today we trekked too Franklin, North Carolina southeast of Knoxville about 3 hours.. This was once a prosperous gem mining town.. It has a magnificent gem museum and store called Ruby City which has an 835 lb.amethyst.. There are gems and artifacts from all over the world.. Actually, it was a case of sensory overload.. Then we drove almost to Georgia through a magnificent National Forest with some amazing waterfalls..Native Tennessee folks yawn about waterfalls because they are common and magnificent and they have never had to live in Lubbock or El Paso.. We saw Dry falls and Bridal Veil Falls.. We also drove to Highlands N.C, which is on a beautiful lake called Mirror Lake.. Enjoy the pictures.. Excellent Tennessee day.. Very Inspirational..

The photos are beautiful. Just the lush countryside alone is so gorgeous. I will google the 835 lb amethyst; that must be have something to behold.
