- Tell us about yourself. What have you done since graduation and where have been?
- What have I done since graduation? Lots. Married twice, I now live the single life in Salt Lake City. After my divorce, I moved to NYC thinking I would live there for the rest of my life. I knew I was through with Utah. Yeah, well. Wrong. After three years in the Big Apple, here I am, and I'm loving it. All of my four kids now live here, two with spouses, and those two have my two precious granddaughters. I'm a happy Nana.
I graduated from the University of Utah with both my Bachelor's of Fine Arts then my Master's. I'm a painter of sorts; I work in various media. Encaustic (hot beeswax and pigment) is my current favorite. With my art in mind, I'm trying (kind of half-assedly) to get a business going where I will hold workshops in various media. I'm calling it Purple Flamingo Studios. Sigh. I'm so not a business woman.
I love being with my family, hiking, reading, playing Texas Hold 'Em, going to movies, so many things. I feel truly blessed to live where I live and to have come from where I did. I have such fun memories of my school days, and I'm really looking forward to the 50th.
I've started a business called Purple Flamingo Studios in my home studio. I hold workshops in various media and am loving it. It's not quite off the ground, but we're hopeful to have a grand opening, of sorts, in July.

Sometimes I still can't believe I live here. I didn't know anything about Utah when I was growing up and even less about Mormons. So what did I do? I became a Mormon (a Mo no mo, however), moved to the Mormon Mecca, finally finished school first with my bachelor's then later a Master's, both in painting. Jane, Life is really too weird.... My spouse has a brother who lives in Burleson.. He is 63... He is a widower and has been for 20+ years.. Basically until we moved I looked after him, in a manner of speaking.. I tried to get him to move to Tennessee when we did with no success.. In January o f 2009 he was diagnosed with diabetes. He is so NOT good with following through with meds, diet ,etc.. In January last year on Super Bowl weekend we got a call from the paramedics in Texas.. He had been found unconscious in a diabetic coma. So to sum it up... He had a widowmaker heart attack, stroke, and lots of other issues.. We raced to Texas 900+ miles and dealt with all manner of medical issues.. He still would not move to Tennessee.. He is not really well, but seemed to be doing fine. Saturday morning of my 50th high school reunion he had another heart attack.. Can you believe this!!!!!!!! So instead of getting to catch up with old friends I got to deal with medical folks... He is stable, but that's about it.. We left exhausted on Sunday night and came home. The lesson here is if you choose not to deal with your health issues it is a really selfish choice.. Everyone needs to STOP with this weight thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live in Tennessee where my doctor(yes a real M.D.) believes it is perfectly fine for a woman to weigh 200 lbs.. That is normal weight in Tennessee for a woman.. I am considered anorexic and way weird because I became a vegan.. No more about weight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
