When witches brew their potions.. in their big black pots.. Do they,by chance use the Ever Popular Lodge iron cookware?.. Today"s trendy theme is organic and back to the basics(as long as we are not inconvenienced).. Nothing truly tasty is ever brewed/cooked except in an iron vessel.. If you are a member of the Great Unwashed and perchance put an iron skillet in the dishwasher as I once did... You have committed the Unforgivable Sin.. The vessel is Ravaged.. Worse it is corroded with Rust!!! Yet something even more horrific has happened .. Now it is NOT seasoned properly.. The proper way to clean the Most Sacred iron cookware is to pass it ever so briefly under plain tap water.. Then instantly dry completely.. If you are Slightly Squeamish and cringe thinking the skillet is not Surgically Clean.. It is permitted Once in a great while to scrub the vessel with salt.. He who has the Oldest iron skillet Reigns Supreme.. Talk about heirlooms.. Who needs Waterford While Lodge and Elvis are still in the house

Nice entry, Kay.
I love to cook (when I do engage in that strange activity) with my iron skillet. You probably know this, and I can't prove it, but I'm pretty sure that I read that one reason the peasants were so healthy way back in the day is because they cooked everything they ate in iron cookware. The upper class had probably tin pots (did they know about tin back then?) or something else. Anyway, legend has it that you get a nice supply of iron for your blood by using this cookware. Who needs Geritol? So the gentry were pale lot, definitely not hearty stock of the peasants.
And I admit to being a member of the "Great Unwashed": I didn't put my skillet in the dishwasher, but I have been known to use dish soap on it. I won't again. I just won't. I don't want to be a member of that group.
